Forgot to review the stuff in Penzance on my last post as was rushing in the internet cafe in Dumfries. Anyway here goes -
Hostel (Penzance Backpackers - 8/10: Positives - Nice hosts let me use an old laptop although this was the worst laptop ever, very cheap as was shared room/bathroom, kept bike in shed, shower fine. Negatives - No towels or shower gel, had to share room with 2 other guys (creeping around when leaving early in morning/getting back at night/shared toilet), didn't get £10 deposit back as left too early in morning.
Restaurant (The Italian Kitchen) - 8.5/10: Positives - Friendly Service, Good quality food, nice atmosphere, not too expensive. Negatives: food served too hot, portion could have been a tad bigger.
Penzance in general - 9.5/10 - lovely little Cornish town - has all the typical pasty shops, cafes etc you'd expect in a Cornish town as well as supermarkets and good selection of pubs, has a decent bike shop, a nice beach (although this was a mile or 2 along the coast), friendly people, and the added bonus of a few clubs so something for everyone. And right on your doorstep as you step off the train from London!!!
